Auditions Info:

When and where do auditions take place every year?

JubiLee holds auditions once every year in the early Fall.  We usually do not hold Spring auditions.  Auditions will take place in DuPont Hall - look for fliers and campus notices for specific dates.

How can I sign-up for an audition time?

There are three ways to sign-up for an audition time.  You can sign-up at the Activities Fair during freshman orientation, at the JubiLee auditions information session (date TBA), or email us at jubilee@wlu.edu.

What should I do to prepare for auditions?

We strongly suggest that you attend our auditions information session (date TBA).  At this time, we will discuss the auditions process, answer any questions you might have, and teach Someone To Watch Over Me.  For your audition, aside from being able to sing your voice part to Someone To Watch Over Me, please prepare a verse and chorus of any song, preferably something on the radio (any genre will do) and, of course, something you like!

What will the auditions process be like?

During your audition, we will first test your range by asking you to sing a simple warm-up exercise for us.  Then you will sing your voice part to Someone To Watch Over Me alongside other members of JubiLee.  You will end your audition by singing your prepared solo piece.  The audition should last anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes.

How many girls will you take this round of auditions?

Depending on our needs for vocal parts and balance, the number of girls we take is always different. We certainly do not have a maximum (nor a minimum) number of girls we accept each year.

Can you give me some tips for auditions?

Try to be completely relaxed! We want to get to know your personality as well as your voice. When choosing your audition song, be aware of your comfortable range, your talents at stylization, and demonstration of your ability. During your audition, have fun, be confident and be a performer!
